Price Optimistic Ahead Of Murray Bridge Cup Heats

After being postponed due to heat on Monday, a massive Tuesday night awaits at Murray Bridge, with six heats of the 2024 Murray Bridge Cup to be held.

There is an excellent spread of chasers which will contest the highly competitive heats with a mix of excellent South Australian and interstate dogs taking on the heats.

With some top chasers and trainers involved throughout, there will be one in particular who is bringing a strong hard to the heats, with the Mount Gambier conditioner Tracie Price having a runner in each of the six heats.

Price has had a stellar run in recent times and his team have proven to be a formidable force at both Mount Gambier and Murray Bridge. He will no doubt be hoping that they can put it together on Tuesday night as they attempt to secure a spot in the $25,000 to the winner Group 3 final next week.

With six heats, it will be all the winners and the two fastest seconds that will make it to the final and Price has given thoughts on all his chances.

Race 3, Heat 1, Bad Move - Box 1
“She’s not suited to be in the red, but it’s better than being in four or five! A bit after boxrise, she will push out and look for some room, but she’s a chance. She’s come back from a couple of little serious injuries so we’re working her back to it. To be able to beat Coorong Cam is going to be a bit of a task I think and the eight (Will Vanson) goes very well.” said Price

Race 4, Heat 2, Myall Mate - Box 6
“I like his chances, a few around him probably won’t have the pace to match him, but in saying that, I don’t know much about Chapel Road and what’s it done here of late. This pup (Myall Mate) is a pretty smart pup. He came to me from a guy in Melbourne and his wife. I rode him pretty good, he’s only a baby. He’s learning a lot about racing but he’s doing everything right at the minute, I think he’s well suited out there. He’s got some pace.”

Race 5, Heat 3, Honey Rocks - Box 5
“A bit tough, she’s probably outclassed, but I’ll give the owner every chance, she’s been around in about 25.60, she would have to be at her best.”

Race 6, Heat 4, Hooked On Love - Box 7
“This dog has got a motor and he’s come back from broken bones in his hock on Adelaide Cup night. He’s been working into his trials and doing everything right, this distance is probably around where he wants to be, so if they don’t knock him around early. He’s got a few little issues in his mind so he wears blinkers, but he’s as good as these dogs on his day if he gets a clear look at it. He’s building into his speed now, he’s trialling well and he’s done everything good for me, more than happy with where he’s boxed as well.”

Race 7, Heat 5, Myall Man - Box 7
“This dog came back from a really serious injury, he’s had a bad achilles. The dog has won in Victoria for me and at Horsham, he’s run time. He’s a smart dog on his day but he’s lost a couple of lengths out of the boxes, so he will need some room to run. If he gets that, Federal Flash will look for the fence, so he’s half a chance to run a place.”

Race 8, Heat 6, Wild Banker- Box 8
“He’s awesome. This dog is a serious pup, real serious pup. He’s won the classic, he’s won at Horsham, he just runs time. To run what he did the other night on the track and with the wind, I was more than happy with the time that came up. I think he's a two length better dog now that he’s had a couple looks at it. This dog will be in it.
